Summary of Position

The Project Scheduler will create, maintain and analyze detailed project schedules that support the successful execution of natural gas power generation projects – from project development through construction and into commissioning. This role will support the planning and execution of capital projects including new power plant builds, plant expansions, repowers, and major equipment upgrades (e.g., reciprocating engines, fuel cells, turbines, control systems).

This role requires deep expertise in project scheduling tools and process that assist the project management teams in executing the installation, commissioning, and hand-over to operations for a variety of power plant technologies, as well as EPC contract management, and multidisciplinary project coordination.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline.
  • 3–7 years of experience in project scheduling for large-scale power generation or energy infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Experience supporting EPC or owner-side scheduling for thermal power plants (natural gas or similar).
  • Solid understanding of construction sequencing, commissioning logic, and utility interconnection timelines.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple schedules across concurrent projects or project phases.

Preferred:

  • Experience with reciprocating engine, combined-cycle or simple-cycle natural gas power plants.
  • Familiarity with gas reciprocating engine technologies (Bergen, CAT, Jenbacher, Solar, Wartsila), BOP systems, and commissioning processes.
  • Exposure to permitting workflows (e.g., EPA, FERC, ISO/RTO interconnection).
  • Knowledge of project controls systems (cost tracking, earned value, reporting tools).
  • PMP, PMI-SP, or equivalent scheduling certification.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develops and maintains integrated schedules for gas-fired generation projects, coordinating engineering, procurement, permitting, construction, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Collaborates with project managers, engineers, contractors, and OEMs to define work breakdown structures (WBS), sequencing, and durations for major project phases.
  • Tracks progress against baseline schedules and reports on variances, risks, and recovery plans.
  • Performs critical path and schedule impact analyses related to scope changes, permitting delays, or equipment lead times.
  • Works closely with procurement and supply chain teams to integrate long-lead equipment (e.g., gas reciprocating engines, gas turbines, generators, switch gear and related systems) into the overall schedule.
  • Supports construction scheduling for civil site work, foundations, balance of plant, piping, electrical, and I&C systems
