SummaryThe Senior Controls Engineer supports the Electrical Engineering team by designing, developing, and improving PLC-controlled machinery and systems for the hardscape and masonry industries. This role provides leadership in system design, electrical panel development, and controls innovation, with a strong focus on Allen Bradley PLCs and HMIs.
What You’ll Do- Lead independent system development projects and provide technical guidance.
- Act as a project lead and mentor for electrical engineers and assembly staff.
- Review and create electrical schematics, PLC/HMI programs, and Bills of Materials.
- Specify and evaluate electrical components, motion control products, and communication networks.
- Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- Troubleshoot equipment operations and networks.
- Represent Electrical Engineering in interdepartmental meetings when the EE Manager is unavailable.
- Ensure adherence to PLC and HMI standards while maintaining Master Files.
- Monitor electrical engineering hours, component obsolescence, and redline updates.
- Provide technical leadership in product innovation, customer communication, and process improvements.
- Travel up to 20% to support customer needs.
- Experience: 10+ years of relevant work experience.
- Background: Process control experience, workflow planning, and production schedule management across multiple projects.
- Software Knowledge:
- PLC and HMI programming (Rockwell/Allen Bradley, RS Logix
5000, Factory Talk preferred) - AutoCAD
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Equipment Knowledge:
- Rockwell closed-loop VFDs and servo drives
- PC supervisory controls and process controls experience
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills
- Ability to mentor, lead, and support teams
- Strong problem-solving and technical aptitude
- Collaborative team player with a respectful work style
