Leidos Distribution Designer
Leidos is seeking Distribution Designers to work in Denver, CO. The contract opportunity is to collaborate on the MYR Master Design Build contract, providing distribution design engineering for overhead and underground feeders across the client’s distribution footprint.
The successful candidate will develop construction work packages for the electric distribution system using GIS, CAD tools, WMS, and other client systems. Distribution systems may be in overhead, underground, or URD environments, and project work may include joint use make‑ready, street light projects, and related infrastructure.
Contract type: temp‑to‑perm for approximately 6 months with potential conversion to a full‑time Leidos employee.
Responsibilities- Develop work packages for overhead, underground residential distribution, and underground cable/conduit.
- Conduct field visits or engineering to confirm project requirements.
- Identify conflicting utilities.
- Perform engineering and design calculations and post‑construction reviews.
- Prepare forestry trimming requests, facilitate permit and right‑of‑way acquisition, develop BOMs and estimates, and support customer advocacy such as easement acquisition or CIAC calculations.
- 2‑year technical degree or high school diploma with less than 2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with STORMS, Katapult, ESRI, AutoCAD, PDS, and GIS.
- Familiarity with pole loading software (DDS, O‑Calc, SPIDA Calc, Pole Foreman, LD Field).
- Strong communication skills with clients and project teams.
- Experience with third‑party make‑ready design and electric utility distribution design.
- Experience developing civil and electrical packages for third‑party carriers.
- Ability to interpret client‑supplied documents and standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Strong mathematical skills.
Pay Range: $35,100.00 – $63,450.00
