SummaryThe Consultant supports Matrix’s Built Environment Solutions (BES) business unit, providing consulting on federal agency projects. The role starts with well‑defined tasks and progresses to independently delivering complex components and leading small work streams, all while demonstrating the Matrix First mindset.
Essential Functions- Execute assigned tasks within project work plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Collect, clean, and organize data (facility inventories, condition/space data, mission information, process maps) using established templates.
- Perform and document analyses supporting BES offerings, including facilities and infrastructure planning, space utilization, asset management, and process improvement.
- Develop tables, graphics, and exhibits; support dashboards and data visualization products.
- Draft technical sections of reports, memoranda, and briefings; incorporate review comments and maintain version control.
- Conduct targeted research of guidance, standards, and policy; summarize findings for the team and integrate into deliverables.
- Participate in stakeholder engagements (interviews, workshops, charrettes, working groups); capture notes and action items, and with experience, facilitate segments.
- Coordinate inputs from team members and disciplines to complete deliverables; communicate status, risks, and help‑needed early to avoid rework.
- Support QA/QC by checking data quality, calculations, assumptions, and formatting against checklists and project standards.
- As experience grows, lead small work streams or discrete task elements, provide peer mentoring, and help standardize templates and best practices.
- Model Matrix First by collaborating across teams, supporting teammates, and representing Matrix professionally with clients.
- Foundational understanding (or strong interest) in federal facilities/infrastructure and consulting practices.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; identify data gaps, check information quality, and document assumptions.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication; concise report writing.
- Strong organization and attention to detail; follow standards and produce high‑quality work products.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment; responsive, reliable, solutions‑oriented.
- Comfort working with sensitive client information; maintain confidentiality and ethical conduct.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with Teams/SharePoint and data visualization tools (Power BI/Tableau) is a plus.

This position typically has no direct supervisory responsibilities. The consultant may provide peer mentoring or guide junior staff on task execution.
Education and Experience- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, planning, business, data science, or a related field; equivalent experience accepted.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in consulting, facilities/infrastructure planning, asset management, space utilization, process improvement, or related work. Experience supporting federal clients (especially Department of War) is preferred.
