Principal Acoustics Consultant

As part of SLR Consulting’s Acoustics team, you will help clients make smart, sustainable decisions when it comes to managing sound and vibration. We work across a diverse range of sectors and acoustic disciplines, including environmental acoustics, architectural and building acoustics, industrial acoustics, transportation noise, and water and underwater acoustics. We are looking for an experienced Principal Acoustics Consultant to join our growing team.

This is a senior technical and client-facing position for an acoustics professional who can bring deep subject‑matter expertise, lead complex projects, develop client relationships, and help grow our acoustics practice. We are open to candidates from all areas of acoustics. Your background may be in environmental noise, architectural acoustics, building acoustics, industrial noise and vibration, transportation acoustics, underwater acoustics, marine acoustics, or another specialized area of acoustics.

We are particularly interested in professionals who bring strong technical expertise and the ability to apply their knowledge to complex client challenges.

This role can be based out of any of our U.S. office locations, with Denver, CO being a key location for this opportunity. SLR offers flexibility while providing access to technical experts, mentorship, team collaboration, and a diverse portfolio of projects. We are SLR Consulting (US), a 500+ coast-to-coast team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals. We deliver environmental and sustainability services through the integration of more than 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability.

As our Principal Acoustics Consultant, you will serve as a senior technical resource and trusted advisor to clients while contributing to the growth and development of SLR’s acoustics practice. You will have the opportunity to work across a broad range of acoustics projects and collaborate with engineers, scientists, planners, architects, environmental specialists, and other technical professionals. • Lead and provide technical oversight on complex acoustics and noise projects across one or more areas of specialization, including environmental, architectural, industrial, transportation, marine/water, underwater acoustics, or related disciplines.
• Serve as a technical subject‑matter expert and provide guidance and mentorship to junior and mid‑level acoustics professionals.
• Manage complex projects from proposal through completion, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client communication.
• Develop technical approaches, methodologies, reports, assessments, specifications, drawings, and other project deliverables.
• Conduct and/or oversee acoustic modeling, noise assessments, field measurements, data analysis, and technical evaluations appropriate to your area of expertise.
• Work collaboratively with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and act as a trusted technical advisor.
• Identify opportunities with existing and prospective clients and contribute to business development activities.
• Prepare proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, and presentations.
• Represent SLR at client meetings, industry events, conferences, and technical forums.
• Collaborate with SLR professionals across environmental, engineering, sustainability, and advisory disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
