Position Summary
The Senior Accountant – YFC Foundation & Field Support will provide accounting expertise and financial guidance to support YFC’s mission. The role involves managing the financial controls of the YFC Foundation, overseeing complex giving instruments, and working with movement leaders to create and execute financial plans. The Senior Accountant will also serve as a financial advisor and fixer, resolving tough financial situations with a focus on empathy and stewardship.
EssentialFunctions
- Manage an ever‑changing portfolio of chapters, addressing financial questions and issues.
- Develop and maintain a reference list of financial tools and partners for local chapters.
- Empower local leadership with financial understanding and competency.
- Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and records.
- Reconcile ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain and analyze budgets and forecasts.
- Build and implement YFCF financial services with high‑touch care for key givers.
- Manage month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
- Coordinate annual audit and create necessary schedules and documentation.
- Attend all required weekly and monthly team meetings.
- Design and facilitate complex gift instruments.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 2–3 years of accounting experience with 5 years preferred.
- Strong accounting acumen combined with empathy and a missional perspective.
- Advanced MS Excel skills.
- Ability to work in a deadline‑driven environment.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
- Understanding of nonprofit accounting principles and fund accounting.
- Excellent communication skills to convey financial information to non‑finance staff.
