Summary
The Senior Vice President, Credit Administration will have a lead role in ensuring the health and sound growth of the Bank’s commercial loan portfolio. This role will actively monitor and report on the Bank’s loan portfolio, coordinate credit-related audits and examinations, and provide support to the Commercial Banking team around underwriting, loan structuring and risk grading. This individual will also assist the Chief Credit Officer in management of the Credit Administration department, including Loan Administration, Loan Operations and the Bank’s Credit Analyst program.
ResponsibilitiesPortfolio Management and Underwriting
- Provide feedback to the deal team on proposed structure and risk appetite for new credit requests.
- Decision individual credits within granted approval authority.
- Participate with the lending teams on customer / prospect calls.
- Partner with bankers and portfolio managers to complete annual relationship reviews in conformance with loan policy.
- Proactively monitor credit risk and exposure for the Bank’s commercial loan portfolio, monitor collateral, oversee covenant monitoring, and initiate changes in risk ratings as appropriate.
- Assist in managing the Bank’s non‑performing asset portfolio.
- Provide regular reporting on the performance of the bank’s loan portfolio, including, but not limited to, portfolio concentrations, credit quality, past dues, exception tracking, financial statement receipt and covenant compliance.
- Monitor loan approval as needed to ensure loans are compliant with policy and booked in line with approval conditions.
- Perform periodic CECL based stress testing of the portfolio.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, regulators, and the lending units to prepare for scheduled exams.
- Ensure loan reviews are carried out as planned, address concerns raised by examiners, and address noted areas of risk.
- Implement solutions to address audit and examination findings, as appropriate.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- Master’s Degree preferred, but not required.
- 15+ years of progressively responsible and relative experience that involves credit analysis and decision.
- Thorough knowledge of financial statements, accounting standards, and commercial underwriting.
- Excellent knowledge of loan application procedures and best lending practices according to state laws and regulations.
- Must be comfortable working with complex computer operating systems (nCino experience preferred).
- Strong organizational time management skills, problem solving skills, and the ability to quickly grasp concepts and processes with limited guidance from management.
- Analytical thinking skills to make timely, appropriate decisions and recommendations after reviewing all relevant information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work in a team environment with the ability to interact well, and in a positive manner, with co‑workers and management.
- A positive and collaborative approach with both peers and management.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work on consistently changing priorities with enthusiasm.

Office Requirements:
The position is required to work from a Fortis Bank office location at least 3‑4 days per week.
