Job Overview

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) manages the systems, processes, and staff that support all accounting and finance operations for our Client. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and serving as a key member of the executive leadership team, the CFO plays a central role in building, implementing, and overseeing the firm's financial and accounting infrastructure.

As a strategic leader, strong communicator, and skilled financial analyst, the CFO produces accurate, timely, and insightful financial reports for the CEO and leadership team. In doing so, this role directly supports operational efficiency, financial stability, and the firm's continued growth.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve on the executive leadership team, actively contributing to company strategy, policy development, and long-term planning.
  • Provide leadership and direction in achieving company goals, including annual KPIs, three-year objectives, and long-term strategic targets.
  • Partner with the CEO and senior leaders to align financial strategy with organizational priorities.
Accounting Staff Management
  • Direct and supervise the daily activities of the accounting team.
  • Evaluate performance regularly, providing constructive feedback and clear expectations.
  • Deliver initial training and ongoing professional development to strengthen team capabilities.
  • Lead structured team communication, including daily huddles, weekly tactical meetings, and monthly strategy sessions.
  • Manage disciplinary actions, including performance improvement plans and, when necessary, employee terminations.
  • Prepare and maintain progress and performance reports on a weekly basis, as needed.
  • Participate in hiring efforts, including recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new accounting team members.
Accounting & Finance Department Operations
  • Develop and manage annual budgets and financial projections, while producing monthly forecasts and budget‑to‑actual analyses.
  • Prepare and oversee financial reporting, including monthly and annual income statements, balance sheets, reconciliations, and P&L analysis.
  • Manage cash flow proactively, ensuring liquidity needs are met and regularly updating leadership on cash position and optimization strategies.
  • Maintain and strengthen banking relationships, including coordination with lenders.
  • Oversee and optimize corporate debt, ensuring efficient structure and cost management.
  • Drive expense optimization initiatives, identifying cost‑saving opportunities, discounts, and incentives.
  • Evaluate, implement, and streamline controls, policies, and processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reconciliations, including monthly cash, bank, and credit card reconciliations.
  • Oversee accounts receivable, ensuring timely invoicing and collections.
  • Manage accounts payable, ensuring accurate vouchering and timely payments.
  • Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Conduct strategic financial analysis, applying quantitative methods to assess trends, mitigate risk, and identify growth opportunities.
  • Lead departmental initiatives, including software implementations, systems upgrades, and process improvements.
  • Provide financial due diligence support for mergers and acquisitions, as required.
  • Support and lead special projects, either proactively or in collaboration with other team members.
  • Prepare monthly commission reports, managing multi‑source commission calculations and timely payments.
  • Oversee HR‑related financial administration, including payroll processing, benefits administration (medical, vacation/sick time, 401(k)/profit sharing), and annual 1099‑MISC preparation and filing.
Professional Development
  • Pursue ongoing professional improvement through training and skill development.
  • Maintain all required licenses in good standing.
  • Complete all required continuing education to ensure regulatory and professional compliance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required;
    Master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • Extensive experience with financial advisory firm practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and modern accounting software.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical capability, and consistent follow‑through.
