GENERAL FUNCTION

Cross‑functional responsibilities for analyzing Consumer Credit applications and information across Direct Lending, Indirect Lending, and Bankcard Credit. Direct responsibility to underwrite secured indirect lending products (installment loans and leases) across multiple states, affiliates or geographic regions. Provide superior quality service to internal and external customers (Dealership FI Finance & Insurance Managers, Retail Banking Center Managers, and vendors). Provide guidance to loan processors and less experienced underwriters.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensuring that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the bank's risk appetite, achieve results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze consumer credit reports for Consumer Lending applications to evaluate risk and make appropriate credit decisions for Direct, Indirect, and Bankcard divisions across multiple states, affiliates or geographic regions.
  • Review documents to support credit decision (verification of income, tax returns, personal financial statement, trusts and additional supporting documentation, etc.).
  • Order and review documents to underwrite within stated Consumer Lending Guidelines and applicable regulations (flood determination, property appraisals, property reports/title searches, Dealer contracts and documents, etc.).
  • Verify completeness and accuracy of credit applications.
  • Formulate and communicate credit decision (approve, decline or counter‑offer) in compliance with established underwriting guidelines, compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to internal or external customers (Retail Banking Centers, Dealer F & I, Call Center) to maximize production and manage risk.
  • Develop business relationships and build rapport with customers to achieve mutual goals across multiple states, affiliates or geographic regions.
  • Manage application pipeline to meet business objectives.
  • Review complex credit, declined and pipeline applications to maximize production and meet stated service quality levels.
  • Assist/co‑coach less experienced underwriters with structuring loans to maximize production and manage risk.
  • Conduct monthly audits of credit decisions and/or loan files for document accuracy and credit quality.
  • Provide superior quality service to internal and external customers at all times and demonstrate professional demeanor.
  • Consumer lending credit authority is commensurate with consumer lending authority guidelines and business need.
  • Review credit applications and recommend decisions on applications under their assigned authority to their manager.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE,

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

REQUIRED
  • College degree in Business or Finance or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of Consumer Lending or Financial Services industry experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of Consumer Lending Underwriting experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to interact with Vice President‑level managers; build consensus; and motivate others.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of ACAPS.
COMPENSATION

Total base pay range 53,400.00 –  USD per year.
