Job Overview
The Colorado Senate is looking for a Sergeant‑at‑Arms for a seasonal position during the upcoming legislative session (January 14 through May 13, 2026). The role involves maintaining order and decorum in the Senate chamber and committee hearings, enforcing Senate rules, and serving as a liaison among Senators, staff, the public, and building security.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain order and decorum in the Senate chamber and committee hearings.
- Enforce Senate rules, observe protocol, and monitor legislative proceedings.
- Act as liaison between Senators, the public, building security, and legislative staff.
- Assist the Secretary of the Senate with assigned duties.
- Enforce parking regulations on Senate premises.
- De‑escalate situations and ensure all persons are treated with respect.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Good independent judgment and ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to calmly and professionally enforce Senate rules in a non‑confrontational manner.
- Ability to de‑escalate situations if required.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Salaries start at $202.72 per day. During the session, the position is full‑time, five days per week. The role may require work beyond typical office hours and occasional weekends.
