BCS Allegient is currently hiring a Sr. Energy Stakeholder Engagement Specialist to join our team at the Department of Energy in Denver, CO or Washington, D.C.

  • Location: Denver, CO (preferred) | Washington, DC (acceptable)
Position Overview

We are seeking a Sr. Energy Stakeholder Engagement Specialist to support DOE’s energy security and resilience mission, with a focus on threat analysis, risk communication, and stakeholder engagement. This role supports programs aligned with the DOE Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER) and serves as the connective communications function across national laboratories, private industry, government partners, and energy sector stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is a thoughtful, detail-oriented writer with experience translating complex energy threat and resilience concepts into clear, actionable messaging for non-technical audiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop high-quality written products that communicate energy security, threat, vulnerability, and resilience concepts to external stakeholders and community partners
  • Translate threat analysis, risk assessments, and resilience planning outputs into clear, policy-relevant communications
  • Support communications for CESER-aligned initiatives, including public-private partnerships, information sharing activities, and preparedness efforts
  • Serve as the communications “connective tissue” across multiple lines of effort, coordinating messaging among DOE offices, national laboratories, private industry, and state and local partners
  • Participate in and support multi-stakeholder working groups focused on energy security, emergency preparedness, and risk mitigation
  • Review, edit, and finalize externally facing materials to ensure consistency with DOE energy security priorities, messaging standards, and stakeholder expectations
Job Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in communications, public affairs, or related fields
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or communicating energy security, threat analysis, risk management, or critical infrastructure protection initiatives
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail
  • Experience working in multi-stakeholder, public-private environments, particularly those involving federal agencies and industry partners
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with DOE CESER mission areas, including cybersecurity, physical security, emergency response, or grid resilience
  • Experience in the energy sector, energy cybersecurity, or critical infrastructure resilience
  • Background in corporate communications or government affairs supporting security or resilience programs
  • Experience collaborating with national laboratories and private-sector energy partners
  • Active security clearance (nice to have, not required)
Professional Attributes
  • Thoughtful and analytical communicator capable of conveying sensitive or complex energy security topics responsibly
  • Polished professional with strong judgment and stakeholder awareness
  • Comfortable aligning communications with threat-informed decision-making and resilience objectives
