Serve as an environmental protection specialist in the school and child care programs. Conduct regulatory inspections, prepare reports, provide compliance assistance, and train local public health agencies (LPHA) staff. Coordinate investigations, draft enforcement actions, and develop guidance materials.
Responsibilities- Conduct environmental health inspections for assisted living residences, swimming pools, child care facilities, and schools; prepare inspection reports and enforcement recommendations.
- Provide compliance advisories, LPHA assessments, and orders or recommendations for enforcement.
- Train and conduct joint inspections for LPHA staff; develop guidance materials for school and child care programs.
- Assist regulated community and local public health agencies with compliance and regulatory matters.
- Draft new regulations and complete State Board of Health documents; coordinate stakeholder meetings.
- Five (5) years of experience in environmental health inspections, regulatory compliance, or a related field.
- OR
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Food Science, Biology, or Chemistry.
- One (1) year of occupational experience in environmental health inspections or regulatory compliance.
- Relevant regulatory experience, including administration of local or state compliance programs.
- Experience conducting inspections and technical reviews.
- Knowledge of local or state regulations related to compliance, site investigation, and assessment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders (state & local governments, NGOs, private entities, federal agencies).
- Excellent written and oral communication; bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
- Advanced interpersonal and conflict-management skills.
