Location

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. This position occasionally works in the field, which can include inclement and/or extreme weather (both hot and cold). Employees work where needed, at a job site 3 days per week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days. The Environmental Quality (EQ) division within DDPHE has an opening for an Associate Environmental Public Health Analyst (Asbestos). This position is part of the Land Use and Planning section that manages the Asbestos, Lead-Based Paint, and Indoor Air Quality programmatic areas for internal city facilities.

Specifically, in this role, you will:

Primarily manage the City's liability from asbestos containing building materials and regulated asbestos contaminated soils and secondarily from other environmentally regulated building materials and hazards (lead-based paint, indoor air quality, fluorescent devices, etc.) to reduce the risk to human health, the environment, and the financial burden to the City and County of Denver (CCoD). Tasks may include:

Conduct or assist with building and property inspections including coordination with other City departments, environmental consultants, and abatement contractors.

Support aspects of inspection and abatement projects from preparing scopes of work documents to identifying oversight monitoring requirements, provide as needed building and property access and permissions, attend meetings and create progress reports, report and project close out review, evaluate cost proposals, and invoice approval and tracking.
