Position Summary
This role provides front‑line office and telephone customer service support for the Health Center at Auraria’s Front Desk and Communications Center, Health Information, MSU Denver Student Health Insurance, and Auraria Immunizations. Key responsibilities include patient scheduling, insurance verification, data entry into the Health Center’s electronic medical records database, and serving as a liaison to back‑office clinical personnel.
Duties & Responsibilities- Provide patient care information over the telephone, through patient portal, or at front line operations based on established protocol and in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA laws.
- Schedule patient appointments, including operation of telehealth system.
- Confirm patient’s health insurance network, eligibility, and benefits and coordinate with Health Center Billing Department.
- Engage as a liaison for students and patients with clinical providers, insurance providers, University and State officials.
- Represent Health Center at Auraria, MSU Denver Student Health Insurance and Auraria Immunizations at campus outreach programs.
- Welcome guests and patients.
- Establish and maintain patient records.
- Communicate with patients and clinical staff, including the use of secure electronic systems.
- Communicates University health insurance and immunization policies and procedures.
- Provides customer service support for MSU Denver Student Health Insurance Department and Auraria Immunizations Department, as needed.
- Supports HIM with processing patient care referrals, as needed.
- Supports HIM department with processing incoming and outgoing faxed documents, as needed.
- Completes requests for disclosure of medical and mental health records according to HIPAA law and office protocols, as needed.
- Completing requests for insurance prior authorization for medications and services, as needed.
- Accurately documents all of the above processes according to office protocols.
- Previous Administrative Assistant experience in a clinical front office setting.
- Proficiency in utilizing Electronic Health Record system.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with health insurance eligibility and coverage verification
- Experience with processing medical records requests or specialist referrals
- Full‑time, 40 hours per week, Non‑Exempt
- Monday through Thursday 8 am – 5 pm & Friday 8 am – 3 pm
- Evenings and Weekends:
Rarely - This position is an on‑campus position

We anticipate the qualified candidate to be placed between $50,900 – $58,000.
