Base Salary: $20.87 - $33.39 (based on education and experience, Technician I)

Position Summary

Responsible for daily patient care and flow of the clinical activities. Position requires the understanding of ophthalmic practice and patient care as well as medical terminology. Knowledge of medical instrumentation and its proper care and usage needed. Ability to assess common safety hazards and take precautions to establish a safe work environment required. Ability to communicate with patients, co‑workers, management, and physicians is critical.

Must be knowledgeable in all areas of the office and understand the need for efficient use of time. As a technician you must be able to navigate through Next Gen (practice management system) as well as Nextech/MDI (Electronic Health Record) and Microsoft outlook. Technicians will also need to know and follow all Colorado Retina Associates policies and procedures.

Role & Responsibility
  • Promptly and professionally assists the physician in patient care.
  • Performs technical work‑ups, patient interviews, and specialized diagnostic testing.
  • Administers topical ophthalmic and oral medications at the direction of the prescribing physician.
  • Efficiently and accurately obtains and documents patient history appropriately.
  • Communicates with patients regarding follow‑up care, surgeries, procedures, symptoms, surgery scheduling, etc.
  • Assists with minor procedures in office including intraocular injection prep and laser procedures.
  • Efficient and accurate application of electronic medical records.
  • Follows all physician preference guidelines.
  • Follows all standard work procedures.
  • Pursues cross training in all clinical skills.
  • Completion of in‑office ophthalmic technician program.
  • Cleans and maintains all ophthalmic equipment.
  • Follows OSHA guidelines and reports concerns to safety officer as needed.
  • Attendance at mandatory quarterly clinical meetings and other meetings as necessary.
  • Travels as necessary to any location for clinic coverage and/or training.
  • Assist in training as needed/as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Some college or degree preferred
Preferred Skills/Experience
  • General understanding of ophthalmic practice, patient care, and terminology
  • Knowledge of medical instrumentation; proper care and usage
