About the Division and Unit

The Division of Disease Control and Public Health Response (DCPHR) is the department’s lead surveillance, planning and response arm for public events including communicable disease outbreaks and epidemics, pandemics, bioterrorism, and other public health and mass casualty events and disasters.

The Colorado Immunization Branch (CIB) works to reduce vaccine‑preventable disease by developing and implementing programs designed to positively influence the uptake of immunizations across the lifespan.

The work unit is the CIIS Program. The purpose of CIIS is to collect and consolidate immunization information from public and private healthcare providers throughout Colorado to provide real‑time information for clinical decision making at the “point of care” about which immunization(s) an individual needs at the time of each healthcare visit.

About the Position

This position operates independently in performing full range of job duties within management’s program objectives and in accordance with general systems and guidelines. The position provides tailored training to other CIIS staff, and offers training, education and technical assistance through analysis and collaborative problem‑solving to healthcare providers including local public health agencies, private providers, community health centers, hospitals and retail immunization providers using the immunization registry.

Responsibilities include:

  • Development and delivery of training for CIIS, including creating instructional materials, hosting monthly live webinars, maintaining computer‑based training modules and user guides, and ensuring current versions are posted on the public facing website.
  • Outreach, recruitment and technical assistance to public and private providers, promoting and demonstrating the usage of CIIS and providing consulting services and technical assistance to help providers analyze and document site workflows.
  • Communications to CIIS users and stakeholders, developing regular “CIIS Tips and Tricks” training points, producing the “User Impact Document” and creating the “Constant Contact” communications.
  • Backup coverage for the CIIS Training and Outreach Unit, providing critical backup and surge response support for customer support and assisting the CIIS Help Desk and School Coordinator with inquiries and maintenance of the online education module.
