Lead Human Resources Business Partner (Finance)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Human Resources Business Partner is a key role in driving HR strategy and operations. Working with minimal supervision, this role manages and executes full-cycle HR functions, ensures compliance with employment laws, and fosters a positive, high‑performing workplace culture. Responsibilities include talent management, compliance, employee relations and organizational development. The position collaborates with managers and cross‑functional teams to implement HR programs that align with business goals.

This position reports to the Vice President – Human Resources in the Denver office.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures aligned with company strategy and best practices.
  • Manage the full employee lifecycle including talent acquisition, onboarding, development, performance management, and offboarding.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws; maintain and update the Employee Handbook.
  • Partner with and support team on compensation and benefits strategy, practices, and administration.
  • Oversee and execute annual talent reviews, merit processes, succession planning, and career development initiatives.
  • Serve as primary contact for employee relations issues, lead investigations and coach managers on performance and disciplinary matters, ensuring consistent application of company policies and practices.
  • Partner with managers on workforce planning, organizational change, and talent acquisition strategies.
  • Drive HR projects and initiatives, including performance management, leadership coaching, and employee engagement programs.
  • Oversee Culture Committee and lead efforts to enhance employee experience and retention.
  • Use data and analytics to inform HR decisions and provide actionable insights.
  • Function as a trusted advisor to employees and leaders, promoting transparency and collaboration.
  • Maintain respectful and productive working relationships within and across all work groups, ensuring effective collaboration and cooperation.
  • Create a work environment that is consistent with the company's Purpose, Vision & Core Values.

  • Maintain a high level of knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, new development and applicable laws regarding human resources.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Demonstrate a trusted advisor mindset with strong business acumen.

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional communication, problem‑solving, and project management skills.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of HR experience with at least 3 years influencing senior leaders and managing strategic HR initiatives.

  • Previous experience in Oil and Gas Exploration & Production
