Mainframe Automation Tester

As a Senior Backend Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining backend and mainframe validation automation within an enterprise-grade QA framework. You will work closely with QA Architects, Dev Ops, and compliance teams to ensure robust, secure, and traceable automation across backend systems such as SOR, Domains, and Read Store. This role requires deep expertise in backend automation tooling, CI/CD integration, and compliance-aware engineering practices.

• Build and maintain backend automation scripts using IBM HATS CLI for validating batch jobs, data integrity, and business rule execution.
• Integrate backend validation into the Robot Framework orchestration layer using metadata-driven execution models.
• Develop reusable wrappers and libraries for secure shell (SSH) access and mainframe interaction.
• Partner with Dev Ops to integrate backend test suites into Jenkins, Git Hub Actions, and Azure Dev Ops pipelines.
• Ensure test execution is aligned with CI/CD triggers and supports both vertical (E2E) and horizontal (layer-specific) flows.
• Implement tagging, traceability, and audit logging mechanisms to meet compliance standards.
• Collaborate with compliance stakeholders to validate traceability from test case ? defect ? requirement.
• Validate backend data flows across SOR, Domains, and Read Store using structured test data from TDP and synthetic fallback pools.
• Ensure test data provisioning, reservation, and cleanup processes are automated and auditable.
• Participate in cross-vendor syncs, QA CoE reviews, and scorecard evaluations.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to framework enhancements and standardization efforts.

• 5+ years of experience in backend or mainframe automation.
• Hands‑on experience with Automation Anywhere, IBM HATS, or equivalent mainframe automation tools.
• Proficiency in Java and scripting for CLI‑based automation.
• Strong understanding of Robot Framework, metadata‑driven execution, and YAML/JSON‑based test suite generation.
• Experience with CI/CD tools:
  Jenkins, Git Hub Actions, Azure Dev Ops.
• Familiarity with test data management tools like TDP and synthetic data provisioning.
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks and audit traceability practices.

• Experience in financial services or regulated environments.
• Exposure to observability tools like Allure and Report Portal.
• Familiarity with cross‑vendor execution models and RACI‑based governance.
