We are searching for a IT Specialist (Volunteer) who will handle the key responsibilities by dedicating 5 - 10 hours weekly of volunteer time.
The IT Specialist (Volunteer) supports the organization’s technology needs by helping maintain, improve, and secure IT systems and digital tools. This role contributes to operational efficiency, data security, and the organization’s ability to deliver programs and services to the community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES IT Support & Operations- Provide basic technical support for staff and volunteers (hardware, software, email, and connectivity issues).
- Assist with setup, configuration, and maintenance of computers, printers, and mobile devices.
- Support cloud-based tools such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Zoom, and collaboration platforms.
- Help manage and maintain the organization’s IT infrastructure, including user accounts and access permissions.
- Assist with data backups, basic cybersecurity measures, and system updates.
- Support troubleshooting of network and system issues as needed.
- Recommend low-cost or free technology solutions suitable for non-profit environments.
- Help streamline digital processes (file management, shared drives, workflows).
- Support implementation of new tools or systems when required.
- Promote best practices for data privacy and cybersecurity.
- Assist with basic security measures such as password management and access controls.
- Support compliance with applicable privacy and data protection requirements.
- Create simple user guides and documentation for IT systems and tools.
- Provide basic training or support sessions for staff and volunteers.
- Help build internal IT knowledge and sustainability.
- Interest in supporting community, social, or charitable initiatives.
- Education or experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (formal education not required).
- Basic knowledge of IT support, troubleshooting, and common software tools.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or similar).
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, service-oriented mindset.
