* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a data-related field (Biostatistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, etc.) or public health-related field with additional study or work experience in data science or analytics.
* The ability to work with and analyze large data sets, including writing queries, cleaning, and validating data, conducting analyses, and creating visualizations to report your findings.
* Experience utilizing Microsoft Power
BI, Tableau or other analytics/visualization tools to build data visualization dashboards for operational and public reporting.
* Experience with open-source programming languages and tools used for data engineering and analysis (SQL, DAX or M, Python, R/R Studio, etc.).
* Familiarity with qualitative methods and experience using qualitative analysis software tools (e.g., NVivo, Atlas.ti, MAXQDA, Dedoose) for coding, data organization, and analysis.
* Familiarity with key public health datasets (e.g., BRFSS, ACS, CDC WONDER, state and local surveillance systems), including understanding their structure, variables, and appropriate applications for public health analysis
* Strong time management, project management, and collaboration skills, including the ability to juggle multiple projects, work with a team, and deliver on a deadline with support from a supervisor or lead analyst.
* Strong communication skills, including the ability to present analytical findings in a concise and engaging way, written or in person, especially to audiences who may have a range of comfort levels with data and analysis.
* A commitment to public service, equity, and improving health for all members of our Denver community.
* Education requirement:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, or other related field.
* Experience Requirement:
Three (3) years of data analytics experience.
* Education/Experience Equivalency:
One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
* Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
