We’re looking for a Principal Product Manager to lead the evolution of Digital Ocean’s Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) offerings. In this role, you’ll shape the future of developer experience on DO by building offerings like AI‑friendly databases and enabling enterprise‑scale, security, durability and much more – helping startups, SMBs and enterprises go from code to scale with minimal friction.

As Principal PM, you’ll drive product vision, strategy, execution and customer success for relational and non‑relational database areas, collaborating with engineering, design and marketing teams. You’ll bring a deep understanding of cloud‑native databases, strong customer empathy and a track record of delivering successful products. You will report to the Director of Product Management and play a key role in shaping how customers build and deploy modern apps on Digital Ocean.

• Define the strategy and roadmap for Digital Ocean’s Databases offerings.
• Work closely with engineering and design to deliver performant, reliable, and delightful experiences.
• Partner with developer relations, marketing and sales to drive awareness, adoption and retention.
• Conduct deep customer research and usability testing to inform prioritization and validate solutions.
• Track competitive trends in the PaaS and serverless space to identify opportunities for differentiation.
• Collaborate with internal platform and infrastructure teams to ensure services are scalable and cost‑efficient.

• 10+ years of product management experience, with 5+ years focused on databases.
• Fluency with relational databases (Postgre
  
  SQL, MySQL, others), No

  DB, Linux Foundation DocDB, etc.), vector databases and AI initiatives in databases.
• Strong technical understanding and collaboration with engineering teams.
• Experience owning full product life cycles—from strategy and ideation to launch and iteration.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of cross‑functional influence.
• Bonus points for experience in developer‑first SaaS companies or contributing to open‑source platforms.
