Senior Python Engineer

We are recruiting for a quantitative commodities trading firm operating in global futures markets across energy, agriculture, and metals. We are looking for a Senior Python Engineer to help rebuild and scale their core back‑office and trading infrastructure.

This is a builder role
, not a maintenance role. You will work in a lean, high‑performance environment where ownership, judgment, and work ethic matter as much as technical skill.

• Rebuilding and modernizing a fragmented back-office trading system
• Improving trade capture, confirmation, allocation, P&L, and risk workflows
• Designing and implementing Python-based automation to replace legacy Excel-heavy processes
• Ingesting and processing large volumes of market and settlement data from APIs, FIX protocols, flat files, and third-party vendors
• Supporting data scientists and quantitative modeling workflows by improving data pipelines and tooling
• Helping establish more structured internal data storage and database practices over time

• Python
• Legacy components in C and Excel
• Market data from Bloomberg, Refinitiv/ICON, IVol, and other vendors
• Cloud-based infrastructure (AWS-style), limited centralized database today
• Highly heterogeneous systems built incrementally over time

• Strong Python engineering experience, especially in data-heavy environments
• Experience building automation and data pipelines from scratch
• Comfort working without rigid specifications or predefined architecture
• Experience with APIs, market data, or financial data strongly preferred
• SQL and database design experience is a plus (we want to build this capability)
• Excel automation experience helpful (to replace legacy workflows)
• Basic understanding of financial markets or futures concepts is important
