My client is a VC funded start up based in Denver, who are aiming to revolutionise the construction industry through automating construction estimation using AI to process complex drawings and documents.

They are looking for a Senior Research Engineer with 3+ years of industry experience (with a Master's/PhD in NLP or Computer Vision) to develop novel model architectures and advance their construction estimation automation product. This role is critical for us to hit our public release milestone in March by improving the accuracy of our extraction.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in NLP or Computer Vision accompanied by 1- 3 years of industry research engineering experience, with a focus on computer vision and LLMs.
• Architected, fine-tuned, or trained novel models for computer vision or multi-modal tasks.
• Experience at foundation model companies (OpenAI, Perplexity, Anthropic), construction tech AI companies, AI startups, or FAANG
• Built production systems with LLMs (agents, RAG, complex workflows) with large amounts of real-world data. You’ve built data pipelines, productionized models, and have ran production experiments with blue-green deployments.
• Expert in Python, PyTorch, and Hugging Face.
• You have a solid understanding of data transformations and analytics functions using tools/languages like Pandas, Sklearn, SQL and Spark.
• Willing to work in Denver, CO 5 days/week.

What will you be doing?

• Architecting and fine-tuning multi-modal models for document processing.
• Developing AI agents to perform inference on processed construction documents.
• Working on the embedding and processing document layer.
• Experimenting with different model architectures in a sandbox development environment.
• Training models to improve accuracy and potentially product ionizing them.
