Data Analyst

The Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) is hiring a Data Analyst to join the Data Science and Analytics Team. This role will support DRCOG data analysis, forecasting, and data product development, improving data quality and expanding the team’s capacity for advanced visualization and GIS.

Responsibilities
  • Organize and maintain inputs to and outputs from various internal data systems; wrangle disparate data and prepare it for analysis.
  • Apply statistical, spatial and other analytical techniques to discover quantitative insights from data.
  • Visualize data through graphs, charts, tables, and maps; create and maintain dashboards and interactive visualizations for internal and external audiences.
  • Document methodology for calculations and reporting to ensure reproducibility; maintain data sheets and citations.
  • Assist with the development of data pipelines, data system architecture, and dynamic webmap integration.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, data science or a closely related field, with coursework in statistical analysis, research methodologies, and data analysis.
  • Two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience; or equivalent education and experience sufficient to perform essential duties.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python preferably, or SAS/R).
  • Experience with data cleaning, management, and analysis; accessing data from relational databases, flat files and APIs.
  • Knowledge of public demographic, land use, real estate, economic, and transportation spatial data is desired.
  • Strong principles in statistics, data visualization, qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, and customer‑service orientation.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, software and scripting languages as needed.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools and interactive visualization platforms.
