Summary
The Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) is hiring a Data Analyst to join the Data Science and Analytics Team. The role focuses on data analysis and forecasting, improving data product quality, and enhancing the team's capacity to produce innovative data visualizations. The team primarily uses Python, but proficiency in other programming languages and GIS skills is an asset.
- Organize and maintain inputs and outputs from internal data systems; wrangle disparate data; prepare data for analysis; improve and clean data; support development of data pipelines and system architecture.
- Apply statistical, spatial, and other analytical techniques to uncover insights.
- Create and maintain dashboards and interactive visualizations for internal and external audiences; collaborate with technical teams on dynamic webmap integration.
- Document methodology and maintain data sheets and citations for reproducibility; track evolving reporting needs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Principles and methods of qualitative and quantitative research
- Principles of statistics and data visualization
- Effective communication techniques for technical and non‑technical audiences
- Experience or familiarity with public demographic, land use, real estate, economic, or transportation spatial and tabular data
- Attention to detail; ability to follow documented processes
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills
- Customer service orientation and rapport building
- Adaptability to new techniques, software, and scripting languages
- Team collaboration and stakeholder engagement
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (SAS, R, Python);
Python preferred - Accessing data from relational databases, flat files, and APIs
- Compiling, organizing, and standardizing disparate data
- Using business intelligence tools and interactive visualization platforms
Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, data science, or a closely related field with coursework in statistics, research methodologies, and analysis, and two years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licensing / CertificationsValid Colorado Driver’s License and access to an automobile or equivalent transportation.
