Position Summary:

Applicants must be Colorado residents or able to relocate to Colorado within a month of starting employment with University of Colorado System Administration.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Serve as the functional and technical data model expert for both People Soft Grants systems, and Info Ed systems supporting core pre-award and post-award research administration activities across all CU campuses.
  • Act as product manager for custom CU-developed applications that extend or integrate Info Ed and People Soft functionality. Responsibilities include roadmap development, techno-functional analysis, stakeholder engagement, testing, training and coordination with People Soft and Info Ed developers.
  • Provide advanced support, manage and optimize CU custom integrations between Info Ed and People Soft, including award setup automation and synchronization projects to reduce administrative burden and increase data accuracy.
  • Lead or contribute to strategic, cross-campus initiatives that align Info Ed and People Soft Grants data models, including the development of reusable integration frameworks, unified reporting data models and automation tools.
  • Work with campus stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, document functional and technical specifications, analyze existing solutions, and design system configurations, customizations, bolt-on or feature enhancements to meet campus business objectives.
  • Use in-depth system knowledge of the People Soft Financials Grants suite (GM, PC, CA, BI, AR) and Info Ed modules (Pre-Award, Post-Award, Award Tracking) to meet campus-specific needs while maintaining overall system integrity and compliance with federal, state, and sponsor regulations (e.g., NIH, NSF, DoD).
  • Operate with a high level of autonomy and subject matter expertise in both People Soft Grants and Info Ed systems. Proactively identify and resolve intricate system issues, design solutions with minimal supervision, and provide expert-level end user training to support campus needs.
  • Develop queries and reports to support campuses in managing post-award business process.
  • Perform technical data analysis.
  • Identify the technical requirements and leverage data models.
  • Develop, design and maintain queries and reports using data from Info Ed, People Soft Grants, and other data sources.
  • Maintain data queries, views, and reports using SQL and PS Query and PS Report Developer and leverage views to support integrations between systems and COGNOS reporting.
  • Ensure timely and effective resolution of Grants-related support tickets across both People Soft and Info Ed systems by accurately logging issues, updating and communicating ticket status, and closing requests with thorough documentation. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot system-specific issues, validate resolutions, and support continuous improvement of the ticket management process.
  • Develop test plans and regression testing for People Soft PUM (People Soft Update Manager) upgrades and Info Ed system enhancements. Ensure that new functionality, patches, and configurations in both systems perform as expected without disrupting existing business processes. Coordinate testing activities with cross-functional teams and document test results to support system stability.
  • Prepare detailed test scripts and execute functional testing activities for quarterly People Soft CPU (Critical Patch Update) patching cycles.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Act as a subject matter expert, transferring knowledge to users, other functional team members and training/support staff.
  • Serve as a backup to Grants Team and eRA Team members during times of vacancy/absence.
  • Assist in producing operational metrics and reports about the Grants service.
  • Participate in the Higher Education community and with other Higher Education institutions to share knowledge and ensure CU is subscribing to industry trends and best practices.
