Systems Administrator, Systems Engineer, Unix/Linux, Windows Server
Our client, a leading communication services provider, is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the lifecycle management of enterprise applications and systems within the lab environment. This role centers on systems administration and data analytics, with a secondary emphasis on application support. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded systems engineer who can administer Linux/Windows environments, analyze and reconcile data across systems, and support the applications the team manages.
This is not a specialized subject‑matter‑expert position; rather, the client are looking for a strong generalist with solid fundamentals who can learn their platforms and grow into ownership over time.
- Perform day-to-day systems administration across Linux and Windows server environments (patching, updates, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance)
- Support data accuracy and integrity efforts, including data analysis, reconciliation, cleanup, and reporting across managed platforms
- Provide application support for team‑managed enterprise applications, including troubleshooting, access management, and coordination with vendors and other lab teams
- Assist with automation and scripting to streamline routine operational and reporting tasks
- Document procedures, runbooks, and configurations to maintain accurate operational records
- Collaborate with partner teams (Lab Network Engineering, PACE, Lab Ops, etc.) to support cross-functional initiatives
- Adhere to security and compliance standards, including RBAC and access‑governance practices
- 3+ years of hands‑on systems administration experience (Linux and/or Windows Server)
- Demonstrated experience with data analysis and reporting (e.g., manipulating, reconciling, and validating data across systems using tools such as SQL, Excel, or scripting)
- Proficiency with scripting/automation (e.g., Python, Bash, or Power Shell)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills across systems and applications
- Solid understanding of core networking and infrastructure fundamentals
- Ability to document work clearly and follow structured operational processes
- Familiarity with security and access‑control principles (e.g., RBAC)
- Working knowledge of how IPAM (IP Address Management) and DNS function at a fundamental level
- Fundamentals of application support engineering (application lifecycle, access provisioning, vendor coordination)
- Exposure to platforms such as Net Box, Infoblox, or PowerDNS (familiarity, not expertise, is sufficient)
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Zabbix, Grafana) or ticketing/ITSM systems (e.g., Jira)
- Experience working in a lab, data center, or enterprise infrastructure environment
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD concepts
- Experience with API‑based data integration or automation between systems
