Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Analyst specializing in Data Use Governance to support the Global Information Security Data Governance team. The analyst will provide governance oversight for how data is requested, sourced, shared, provisioned, and consumed across applications, reports, analytics, APIs, event streams, AI/ML solutions, and other business and technology processes.
This role will manage Data Use Governance requests from intake through final disposition and publication. The analyst will evaluate business use cases, identify appropriate and authoritative data sources, determine applicable agreement and governance requirements, coordinate with data providers and consumers, facilitate required approvals, and confirm that supporting metadata, lineage, Data Quality controls, security requirements, and governance evidence are complete.
The successful candidate must be able to analyze both business and technical information, challenge incomplete or unclear requests, distinguish between data providers, data consumers, transport mechanisms, and persistence layers, and translate complex data flows into clear governance requirements and documented decisions. This is a hands-on governance role requiring independent judgment, strong facilitation skills, technical curiosity, and the ability to manage multiple requests and stakeholders with limited oversight.
Required Experience and Skills:
5 or more years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Risk, Data Architecture, or a related discipline.
5 or more years of direct, hands-on experience in Data Use Governance, data-sharing governance, data-access governance, or a comparable data-consumption governance function.
Demonstrated experience evaluating business use cases and determining the data, sourcing, approval, metadata, control, and evidence requirements needed to support an approved use.
Experience working directly with upstream data providers and downstream data consumers to document and govern data-sharing relationships.
Experience coordinating governance decisions across business, technology, security, risk, architecture, and data-management stakeholders.
Experience identifying governance gaps, documenting findings, assigning remediation actions, and tracking actions through closure.
Required Professional Skills:
Self-directed, accountable, and comfortable working with limited supervision.
Able to exercise sound judgment when requirements or responsibilities are unclear.
Skilled at asking detailed follow-up questions and identifying gaps that may not be apparent to requestors.
Able to communicate effectively with both senior business stakeholders and highly technical teams.
Collaborative and service-oriented while maintaining appropriate governance independence.
Highly organized and capable of maintaining accurate records across a high-volume workload.
Comfortable facilitating discussions in which stakeholders have different priorities, interpretations, or risk tolerances.
Able to bring structure, ownership, and clear next steps to complex or ambiguous data-governance matters.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting Data Use Governance within an Information Security, Cybersecurity, Technology Risk, or other complex technology organization.
Knowledge of Data Management industry standards, best practices, data management policies, data standards, and governance operating models.
Experience governing data used in critical reporting, risk metrics, regulatory reporting, analytics, or operational decision-making.
Experience supporting AI/ML or GenAI data use reviews, including business-purpose validation, sourcing, lineage, metadata, Data Quality, and enhanced approval requirements.
Experience with enterprise metadata repositories, data catalogs, data lineage tools, or registry solutions.
Experience with Jira, SharePoint, or comparable workflow and evidence-management tools.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Data-management or governance certification, such as Certified Data Management Professional,…
