Field Service Engineer (Translogic) - Chicago, IL

Join Swisslog Healthcare as a Field Service Engineer (Translogic). In this role you will interface with customers daily to keep Translogic pneumatic tubing systems up and running, ensuring optimal system performance and patient safety. Your responsibilities include preventive and corrective maintenance, emergency service, start-up, operator training, and promotion of Swisslog products.

Responsibilities
  • Provide scheduled preventive maintenance services to contract customers in the assigned area.
  • Deliver on-demand corrective, 24/7 emergency, and paid services to customers as required.
  • Perform start-up services on Translogic systems and new Swisslog products in collaboration with Installation Specialists.
  • Report product quality issues to the Senior Field Service Engineer and/or Customer Care Manager and file quality reports.
  • Train customers on system and light maintenance operations.
  • Promote parts orders and recommend inventory stocking levels to customers.
  • Conduct periodic customer care visits to monitor product performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain accountability of assigned spare parts and consignment inventories.
  • Assist customers with parts orders, consumables, repairs, and system information requests.
  • Advise the Customer Care Manager of any problems or opportunities within the area of responsibility.
  • Complete required administrative paperwork, work orders, expense reports, downtime reports, and start-up logs in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with sales and support personnel about the assigned customer base.
  • Exercise proper care and accountability of company property and customer property.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance at all times when working with customers.
  • Adhere to and strictly enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Attend required training programs to keep current on system updates.
  • Travel may be required as well as holiday and weekend work.
Application Requirements
  • Vocational school, related military experience, or equivalent job experience.
  • 1–3 years field service experience with electro‑mechanical products.
  • Effective communication style that builds customer trust and satisfaction.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • PC computer, software, and hardware literacy (Windows applications).
  • Basic computer networking skills.
  • Self‑starter, well organized, able to work independently without supervision.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience in a mission‑critical, on‑call environment.
  • Associate’s degree from a technical or vocational school.
Eligibility Requirements
  • Willingness to travel 30–70% of the time for technical support and training.
  • Willingness to work on‑call hours, including weekend, night, and holiday shifts.
  • Ability to lift, lower, and carry objects up to 50 lbs.; work from heights, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record.
Compensation

Base salary range: $55,000 – $68,000 plus overtime, on‑call pay, vehicle benefit, and fuel card. Salary commensurate with experience and skill set. Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, disability coverage, and a 401(k) plan with up to 8% matching.
