Deputy District Attorney – Domestic Violence
Job posted 19 December 2025. Salary: $82,365–$175,120 per year.
Location:
3600 S. Yosemite St., Suite 200, Denver, CO. Eligible applicants must be licensed to practice law in Colorado.
The Deputy District Attorney performs a variety of professional legal and docket management functions to intake and prosecute felony offenses in the 18th Judicial District.
NOTE:
this position is to be hired as a DDA Domestic Violence (DV) I/II/III/IV commensurate with experience.
- Handle felony docket and first chair cases as per level (I: F4s and below; II: F2s and below; III: F2s and below plus occasional F1; IV: all class 1 felonies).
- Advocate, present legal/factual scenarios, and conduct trial proceedings.
- Effectively manage case dispositions balancing victim, state, and defendants’ interests.
- React quickly to court proceedings, objections, motions, and rulings.
- Write succinct, well‑reasoned opinions and reports.
- Maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co‑workers, defense attorneys, victims, judges, court staff, police officers, witnesses, related agencies, and the public.
- Graduation from law school in compliance with Rule 205.1 of the Colorado Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Licensed to practice law in Colorado.
- 3–12+ years of litigation experience (see level requirements below).
- Considerable to extensive knowledge of criminal procedure, rules of evidence, state statutes, and substantive case law related to felony offenses.
- Ability to effectively process and dispose of felony criminal case filings, assess case strengths/weaknesses, and make ethical dispositions within agency policies.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Deputy DA I – 3+ years litigation experience or 1 year County Court (misdemeanor) Deputy DA experience;
Salary $82,365.66–$. - Deputy DA II – 5+ years litigation experience;
Salary $90,602.20–$. - Deputy DA III – 8+ years litigation experience;
Salary $99,662.42–$. - Deputy DA IV – 12+ years litigation experience;

- Must successfully pass pre‑employment testing including an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) and background check.
- Possession of a valid Class “R” Colorado Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within two weeks of appointment.
- Security clearance required: fingerprinting and Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) background check.
