Join the Office of the Attorney General! The Revenue & Regulatory Law Section is the largest section in the Department of Labor and Workforce Development (DOL), providing legal advice and litigation services to nearly 100 state agencies, divisions, ombudsmen, boards, and commissions. The Tax & Public Finance (TPF) Unit within the section represents the Department of Revenue on all state tax matters, including litigation and guidance on corporate income tax, sales and use tax, severance tax, and other tax issues.

The TPF Unit also provides legal advice to many state agencies and officials, including the Governor and the State Controller.

Responsibilities

Full array of administrative and legal support to unit attorneys and paralegal, including: creating and producing correspondence, pleadings, and reports using a computerized word processing system; proofreading documents; assisting with hearing preparation and court filings; managing document files and archival of legal cases; maintaining case status reports; entering case information in Prolaw; electronically filing with the court; making minimal travel arrangements;

and ensuring that urgent matters are promptly referred to the appropriate attorney or legal assistant.

Salary and Compensation

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Minimum Qualifications
  • Residency in the State of Colorado at the time of application.
  • Two (2) years of general clerical/office support experience as the primary function of the job.
  • Alternative: a combination of related education and/or relevant experience equal to two (2) years. Applicants meeting the substitution must provide transcripts at the time of application.

Conditions of Employment
  • Applicants must pass a thorough background investigation before appointment.
  • Applicants must pass a Colorado state income tax check, showing that they filed and owe no back taxes for the past three years.

  • Position is expected to work in‑office 3 days a week; flexible work arrangements may change based on business needs.
