Safety & Compliance Manager – Airgas

Location: Denver, CO (Remote; travel at least 50%)

Job Description Summary

Under the direction of the Vice‑President, Safety, the incumbent will contribute to the overall safety performance of Red‑D‑Arc by assisting their Region in reaching and surpassing the annual safety goals as set out by the VP, Safety and the President of Red‑D‑Arc.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe working environment by following Airgas/Red‑D‑Arc’s health and safety guidelines.
  • Participate in driver engagement programs through observation and ride‑alongs.
  • Support train‑the‑trainer initiatives related to drivers, to make local Branch Managers more self‑sufficient.
  • Assist in the onboarding of new managers and technicians from a safety perspective.
  • Ensure full DOT and OSHA compliance through effective training and leadership.
  • Take lead on accident and incident investigations, identifying lessons learned and building action plans to prevent future occurrences.
  • Develop, implement, and manage safety programs and procedures for RDA to reduce frequency and severity of personal injuries and vehicle accidents.
  • Lead assigned Branch Managers and Associates to drive development of a safety culture and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with division resources to provide environmental, health, and safety expertise for compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Perform periodic safety and compliance audits for branches and occasionally at customer sites.
  • Participate in audits conducted by Corporate, Division Safety, or other third parties.
  • Devise, supervise, and coordinate training programs or media to increase proficiency in safety practices and promote safety consciousness.
  • Compile and submit accident and other reports required by Airgas, third‑party administrators, and regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in investigation of accidents and injuries and prepare material for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Maintain safety files and records, DOT files, training files, and Safe Cor Reports.
  • Utilize division resources to ensure compliance with all DOT safety regulations.
  • Promote a collective and positive safety attitude by leading by example.
  • Work with division resources to promote RDA best practices for incorporation in division safety KPIs and initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least five years safety experience within an industrial and/or distribution setting.
  • Knowledge of DOT and OSHA rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Google Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Sciences or a related field.
  • Previous experience with welding related products.
  • CSP/CRSP or related safety certifications.
  • Knowledge of Canadian HSEQ and Transport Canada rules and regulations.
