The Division of Housing (DOH) partners with local communities to create housing opportunities for Coloradans facing challenges with affordable, safe, and secure homes. DOH supports projects ranging from homelessness prevention to home ownership.
Position summaryThe Deputy Division Director of the Office of Homeless Initiatives (OHI) and Office of Rental Assistance (ORA) provides oversight for the objectives of the Division of Housing. The role evaluates statutory changes, recommends policy modifications, and leads program and fiscal administration for all DOH programs, including rental assistance, home modifications for accessibility, and supportive residential communities.
Program, Policy and Process Improvement- Work with Division leadership to improve DOH services, programs, policies, and procedures.
- Create vision, strategy, systems, and guidelines for program improvements; develop policy recommendations for the Division Director and Governor’s Office.
- Participate in legislative working groups on Colorado’s housing issues; identify opportunities to expand programs.
- Provide advice to the Division Director based on knowledge of DOH programs, housing, and organizational best practices.
- Provide formal supervision, direction, and training to direct‑report managers and approximately 60 staff.
- Oversee all program operations: develop methods, set priorities, define objectives, and assign tasks to meet program goals.
- Develop and monitor work plans, coach staff, and approve or deny leave requests.
- Delegate assignments; conduct regular team meetings; provide decision‑making support regarding staffing.
- Partner with senior staff to improve program outcomes and solve challenges.
- Ensure external communications accurately reflect Division mission and policies.
- Maintain and organize responses for future reference.
- Review proposed legislation; provide technical input on Division activities.
- Serve as point person for Division audits, working with auditors and budget staff.
