Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of periodic payroll, wage garnishment, union deductions, special payments and other payroll related processing.
  • Ensure all proper documentation accompanies non-standard transactions according to company policy.
  • Ensure employee data files are accurate, complete and securely kept.
  • Maintain appropriate logs and tracking of employee files.
  • Ensure the accuracy of employee payroll information through appropriate adherence to data entry protocols and periodic audits.
  • Train and supervise assigned personnel.
  • Ensure department policies, standards, and practices are followed.
  • Supervise periodic payroll closes and tax reporting.
  • Report and reconcile quarter and year end taxes.
  • Produce ad hoc payroll reports utilizing Cognos and other database tools.
  • Provide status and other reports for management as requested and support Management staff as needed.
  • Must be able to work Saturday.
  • Ensure periodic reconciliations occur.
  • Perform performance evaluation, coaching, counseling and preparing corrective action for employees and liaise appropriately with HR representative.
Qualifications Education

High school diploma is required

Work Experience

5 years of in-house payroll processing experience in a multi-company, multi-state environment; 2 years of experience administering union deductions and payments; 2 years of supervisory experience.

Technical Skills (Certification, Licenses and Registration)

Excellent Microsoft Excel and Word skills. Desired experience in Microsoft Office Suite as well as Kronos, Kronos Workforce, and/or Ultipro software. Supervisory skills.

Language / Communication Skills

Ability to communicate orally with subordinates to explain and direct work assignments. Ability to communicate with employees to negotiate conflicts and explain payroll processes. Ability to communicate with management orally and in writing. Bi-lingual skills a plus.
