Store Manager – Walgreens

Responsible for managing the operation of a Walgreens store, improving sales and profitability, and delivering a distinctive customer experience.

Customer Experience
  • Monitors and analyzes customer service provided by team members, offers reminders, training, encouragement, and develops action plans for improvement.
  • Greets customers and clinic patients, and offers assistance with products and services.
  • Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members.
  • Resolves customer complaints and helps respond to customers’ special needs.
Operations
  • Supervises store and pharmacy operations including opening/closing, shift changes, task delegation, and scheduling.
  • Controls store money, oversees bookkeeping, cash reports and time records.
  • Manages merchandising plans and promotions.
  • Analyzes inventory trends, orders items and manages stock, liquidating overstock.
  • Supervises receiving, stocking, pricing, returning, and transferring merchandise.
  • Ensures compliance with laws and regulations, including alcohol, tobacco, fresh food and pharmacy products.
  • Ensures staff knowledge of all computer and technology systems.
  • Maintains compliance with company policies and relationships with coworkers.
  • Completes special assignments and additional tasks.
Daily Planning and Execution
  • Assigns daily operational responsibilities and sets expectations for store team members and assistant managers.
Business Performance Management
  • Analyzes financial and performance data to develop action plans to increase sales and control costs.
  • Reviews KPIs daily and prepares to discuss with district management.
  • Analyzes asset protection data and implements loss‑reduction plans.
  • Works with pharmacy manager to enhance pharmacy performance and may serve as pharmacy technician when allowed by law.
  • Works with clinic coordinator or manager to support clinic performance.
Business Planning
  • Identifies sales opportunities to ensure store and pharmacy growth.
  • Manages inventory levels through ordering, stock keeping, liquidating stock, and anticipating fast‑selling items.
People and Performance Management
  • Manages team member performance, assigns responsibilities, sets goals, provides feedback, and recognizes achievements.
  • Monitors training completion and provides coaching.
  • Makes hiring, promotion and termination decisions.
  • Deals with performance issues and engages Human Resources.
  • Develops employee performance plans and follows up on deadlines.
  • Monitors and approves team member compensation.
  • Promotes teamwork and motivates staff.
  • Ensures compliance with corporate policies and employment laws.
  • Communicates regularly through meetings and discussions.
Training and Personal Development
  • Participates in company and on‑the‑job training; completes Walgreens School of Operations within six months.
  • Follows performance improvement plans from District Manager.
  • Obtains pharmacy technician registration/licensure; pursues PTCB or ExCPT certification as required.
  • Seeks self‑development through performance monitoring and learning.
Communications
  • Serves as liaison between district, corporate and store.
  • Conducts community outreach and assists with community events.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years retail management experience or High School Diploma/GED and 5 years retail management experience.
  • Licensed pharmacy technician as required by state OR pharmacy assistant in WA state OR licensed Rph within 12 months of starting date.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including extended days, evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • PTCB or ExCPT certification.
  • Three years of retail management experience supervising others.
  • Licensed pharmacy technician or relevant license.

This position offers a salary range of $50,000 – $120,000. Salary will depend on geography, skills, experience and other factors. The role will remain open until filled.
