Deputy Division Director – Office of Homeless Initiatives/Office of Rental Assistance
Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) serves as the primary interface between the State and local communities, providing financial support, professional services, and technical assistance in governance, housing, and property tax administration.
Position SummaryThe Deputy Division Director provides oversight and leadership for the Division of Housing, evaluating statutory changes, recommending policy modifications, and directing state and federal housing voucher and homelessness funding programs. The role includes program administration, fiscal oversight, facility operations, and serving as the Division Director’s backup for legislative, executive, and public affairs responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement program objectives, system improvements, and policy recommendations in partnership with Division leadership.
- Provide formal supervision and direction to managers and approximately 60 staff, ensuring effective program operations and staff development.
- Maintain and manage information, communications, audits, and financial oversight related to voucher and homelessness funding.
- Lead facility operations for Supportive Residential Communities at Fort Lyon and Sage Ridge.
- Serve as backup for the Division Director for legislative, Governor’s Office, media, and public requests.
- Analyze program utilization, fund applications, and fiscal impacts in collaboration with Office Directors.
- Ten (10) years of experience managing an affordable housing or human services program, including supervisory management level staff.
- Two (2) years of experience in public or business administration, goal setting, objective development, and budget management.
- Optional: A combination of related business administration, nonprofit or public administration education with ten (10) years of experience.
- Colorado resident (at the time of application) and legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Pre‑employment criminal and financial background checks will be conducted.
- Strategic planning and implementation experience.
- Knowledge of federal and state housing program requirements.
- Experience supervising a team and business development.
- Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
