Head of Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT)
Working arrangement: Full-time, onsite
About the roleWe are seeking an experienced Head of AIT to lead a technical team within a growing space technology business.
This is an opportunity for a strong people leader with an AIT background to drive operational improvements, develop teams, and shape processes in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Key responsibilities- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary technical team, including experience of leading leadership profiles.
- Oversee assembly, integration and test activities.
- Drive operational improvements and establish effective processes.
- Build strong relationships across engineering, production, programme management, and supply chain.
- Manage competing priorities and gain stakeholder buy-in for change.
- Identify challenges, develop practical solutions, and drive them through to completion.
- Work closely with senior leadership to support organisational growth.
- Significant people management experience in a technical or operational environment.
- Experience in assembly, integration, or test.
- Strong stakeholder management and consensus-building skills.
- Experience managing managers or developing leadership capability.
- A track record of implementing change and improving processes.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- A proactive, adaptable, and hands-on approach.
- Background in a startup or scale-up environment.
- Experience in the space or wider aerospace industry.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering or production teams.
You will be a collaborative, solutions-focused leader who can bring people together, navigate competing priorities, and turn ideas into action.
Comfortable working in a growing business, you will be able to introduce structure where needed without slowing progress. Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills are just as important as your technical understanding.
