Xometry is looking to add a Senior Application Engineer, CNC Machining. The role is responsible for client quoting, supplier sourcing, production planning and supporting on‑time order fulfillment. A successful candidate will have at least 8 to 10 years of experience in a CNC machining quoting environment, strong CAD skills, deep familiarity with multilateration and surface machining, and excellent technical communication.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities include:
- Analyze engineering models/drawings to define the sequence of manufacturing operations ensuring design intent and component quality.
- Make accurate cost and time estimates considering materials, tooling, manufacturing times, inspection times and equipment.
- Collaborate closely with Machinists, Quality, Engineering, Management and other teams to satisfy customer requirements and deliver on schedule.
- Source materials and finishes to optimize cost and quality.
- Estimate CNC machining/manufacturing costs for prototypes, low‑volume and high‑volume production runs.
Qualifications and knowledge requirements:
- Extensive experience with CNC machining/manufacturing technologies across multiple axes.
- Proficiency in programming and setup of CNC machines (3/4/5 axis milling, lathes, Swiss machines, live tooling).
- Knowledge of welding, grinding, wire EDM, assemblies and finishing.
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) expertise.
- Experience reviewing RFQs, determining material requirements, processing and job routing.
- Strong customer communication skills to accurately define requirements and expectations.
- Ability to work with outside vendors/services to secure best prices and solutions.
- Comprehensive cost consolidation for engineering, manufacturing, finishing and QC.
- Create detailed quote packages for final review and daily quote log management.
The estimated base salary range for new hires into this role is $86,000 – $111,000 annually. Additional compensation may include commission based on role performance and experience.
