This is not an operator-level position. Metron is looking for an experienced CNC milling machinist who can take ownership of complete setups, move a job efficiently through first-article approval, and leave behind a stable, documented process that other machinists can run successfully.
This opening is for second shift, Monday-Thursday, on four 10-hour shifts. Second-shift machinists must be highly skilled, self-sufficient, and comfortable working with limited on-site support.
Metron operates with clear standards and accountability. The goal is to prevent problems through disciplined setups, inspection, and documentation - not rely on last-minute firefighting.
What you'll be doing- Set up and operate CNC milling machines for complex precision components
- Translate prints, programs, and setup information into reliable machine setups
- Review CAM output and identify potential issues before cutting parts
- Select and validate tooling, fixtures, work holding, offsets, and probing routines
- Adjust speeds, feeds, offsets, and cutting parameters as needed
- Produce and inspect first articles
- Diagnose chatter, dimensional drift, surface-finish problems, and tooling issues
- Maintain tight tolerances and verify parts using precision measuring equipment
