Join our team! We are currently seeking a Volunteer and Program Coordinator for full-time employment in our education department. Night and weekend availability is required to serve the community and make Park programming accessible during both public and private events.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated and has a knack for creative problem-solving while delivering exceptional service. The Volunteer and Program Coordinator will be pivotal in integrating volunteers into existing and future educational programs for field trips, signature community events, outreach initiatives, birthday celebrations, and private events. They will also support the Education Coordinator and Manager of Programs and Education in the planning, budgeting, and executing of educational and public programs.

There is room for creativity with this role–the Volunteer and Program Coordinator should be excited to design dynamic new opportunities for learning and see them through execution, actively engaging with staff, volunteers, and guests.

This role will focus on improving program offerings and guest experience by facilitating a thriving volunteer base, supervising and scheduling volunteers, and envisioning new ways for the Four Mile community to engage with the Park’s history and future. The Volunteer and Program Coordinator will also take ownership of volunteer appreciation and recruitment.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
This is not a remote position; in-person attendance is required.

Responsibilities

60% Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordination:

  • Foster relationships with diverse communities, schools, cultural institutions, and nonprofits, while attending events and networking to strengthen partnerships, expand the Park's presence, and promote inclusive storytelling.
  • Communicate volunteer recruitment and event designs to the marketing team, who will promote engagement through social media, email newsletters, flyers, and local media.
  • Utilize volunteer management software to coordinate volunteer applications, background checks, training, and scheduling.
  • Track volunteer hours using volunteer management software.
  • Coordinate volunteers (docents, artists, event support, volunteer groups, etc.)- recruiting, training, scheduling, and overseeing volunteers.
  • Collect and utilize feedback from volunteers to improve volunteer and guest experience at events and programs.
  • Communicate with Four Mile staff to understand volunteer needs and make the volunteer schedule available to staff.
  • Keep volunteers informed on event schedules, opportunities, and continued training requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Events Manager and Manager of Programs and Education to organize and send out quarterly newsletters, monthly member eBlasts, and other relevant communications.
  • In collaboration with the Manager of Programs and Education and the Special Projects Coordinator, plan and execute volunteer appreciation events.
  • In collaboration with the Development Manager, plan and execute volunteer membership agreements.
  • Develop a budget for volunteer programs and track program expenditures, providing regular financial updates to leadership.
  • Coordinate volunteer engagement programs (Lunch & Learns) quarterly.

30% Program Development and Implementation:

  • Exercise creativity by designing, developing, and implementing educational programs that align with the mission of Four Mile in both English, tailored to various demographics including schools, families, tourists, and community groups.
  • Lead or assist hands‑on educational activities for all ages, both at the Park and at schools, senior centers, and community centers across the metro area. Ensure that all on and off‑site programs and events comply with local regulations, safety standards, and Park policies.
