Denver SheriffsJob Summary
Under close supervision of an RN or Care Provider, provides direct patient care according to established protocols. Assists RNs and Care Providers with procedures, medication administration, phlebotomy, and limited laboratory procedures. Assesses patients' physical and psychological conditions throughout their care. Documents patients' medical status during treatment.
The Correctional Care nursing staff provides clinical care at Downtown Detention Center or Denver County Jail. These environments have higher clinical acuity and environmental hazards than typical inpatient or outpatient settings. Security measures impact daily work conditions, including safety and clinical operations. Environmental awareness, critical thinking, and decisive decision-making skills are essential in this setting.
Essential Functions

Education
:
High School Diploma or GED and completion of a nursing program meeting Colorado licensing requirements for LPN.
Work Experience
:
Less than 1 year correctional care experience preferred, required.
Licenses
:
BLS (AHA) and LPN license from the Colorado State Licensing Board are required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
:
Effective interpersonal communication, assistance with personal hygiene, patient transport, IV monitoring, basic typing, and charting knowledge.
Shift
:
Rotating days and nights.
Work Type
:
Regular, 0.9 FTE.
Salary
: $28.99 - $43.49/hr.
