Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary:

This position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St Luke's Medical Center of optimizing quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. The Cardiovascular Center (CVC) RN is responsible for the delivery of nursing care to the patient requiring telemetry and/or medical surgical care. The CVC RN serves as primary nurse and collaborates with all disciplines for well-coordinated care of the patient.

The CVC RN oversees and directs the care of assistive personnel, maintaining final accountability for the care given to assigned patients. When the need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. The Cardiovascular Center is a unit dedicated to caring for pre, post, and intraprocedural patients requiring sedation. Our small team is a committed and caring group of colleagues, dedicated to seeing our patients safely through their procedures.

A. As a CVC RN you will serve as primary nurse leading the collaboration of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care prior to, during, and following procedural sedation. You will be responsible for obtaining patient history and current medications, ensuring nursing assessment is completed and standard of care initiated. You will obtain and/or coordinate pre-procedural diagnostic testing (EKGs, Labs, IV starts), and analyze pertinent data, communicate findings, and document information accurately.

You will initiate and document post-procedure instruction and discharge teaching, involving patient and family/significant other. The responsibility of the CVC RN patient population before and after diagnostic/interventional cardiac catheterizations (cardiac, vascular and electrophysiology procedures) and interventional radiology procedures (line placement, TIPS, biopsies), as well as transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE), anesthesia/RN assisted cardioversions and bone marrow biopsies. You will be responsible for utilizing a self-scheduling model, scheduling yourself for three 12-hour day shifts/week, M-F.

No holidays or call required.

II.

Position Requirements :

A.

Licensure/Certification /Registration:
Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate Registered Nurse license; BLS - Healthcare provider. ACLS required upon hire.

B.

Education:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.

C.

Experience:

Minimum of one-year previous experience in acute care preferred.

D. Special

Qualifications:

Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members. Ability to manage a team and work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care. Strong critical thinking skills.
