We are seeking dedicated Biological Field Technicians for a seasonal temporary position starting June 2025 through June 2026 or beyond, depending on project needs. The role involves implementing post-construction mortality monitoring at wind facilities, including locations in Arizona, Indiana, Texas, Colorado, or Wyoming, specifically southeast of Denver, CO.
Responsibilities:- Conduct mortality monitoring beneath wind turbines.
- Identify and record bird and bat carcasses.
- Collect data on fatalities accurately.
- Perform bias trials such as searcher efficiency and carcass persistence trials.
- Work outdoors in various weather and terrain conditions.
- Drive and navigate off-road using a 4WD vehicle.
- Utilize GPS, compass, range finder, iPad, and cameras during fieldwork.
- Follow safety protocols, including defensive driving and site-specific guidelines.
- Perform additional related tasks as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in natural resources, wildlife management, biology, or related field.
- Interest or experience with bats and/or birds preferred; enthusiasm encouraged.
- Strong identification skills are a plus but not required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ESRI Field Maps, and safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently, detail-oriented, positive attitude.
- Effective communication skills with team members and clients.
- Ability to walk long distances in variable outdoor conditions, up to 12 miles per day.
- Comfort with outdoor hazards such as wildlife, insects, and vegetation.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing.
This is a temporary position without benefits. Benefits may be available if converted to full-time employment.
