Summary

Technician, Laboratory Minerals – general supervision: performs laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of materials for quality control, process control, or product development.

Job Description
  • Performs laboratory testing following the company’s Standard Operating Procedures and methods.
  • Prepares representative subsamples from client samples using defined methods.
  • Weighs, digests, and tests samples on relevant equipment.
  • Accurately completes and maintains all laboratory reports.
  • Receives, sorts, logs client samples into the database, and prepares sample labels.
  • Archives, returns, or disposes of client samples as per established procedure.
  • Prepares monthly composites.
  • Performs daily, weekly, and monthly QA/QC checks on equipment.
  • Demonstrates good and safe work habits and enforces a clean working environment.
  • Performs general upkeep and housekeeping of the laboratory.
  • Ensures equipment and containers are organized and cleaned before and after use.
  • Ensures all Personal Protective Equipment relevant for tasks is worn at all times.
  • Ensures compliance with all required local and federal safety processes and procedures.
  • May have preparation or field responsibilities as required by business needs.
  • May assist Junior Technicians as required.
  • Adheres to internal standards, policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent – required.
  • 3+ years working in an industrial laboratory or field services setting – required.
  • Associate degree in science preferred; 5+ years experience in industrial laboratory field setting with strict safety standards preferred.
Licenses / Certifications
  • Valid and current Driver’s license may be required if the role requires driving a company vehicle – required.
  • MSHA 24‑hour surface mine safety and health administration certificate may be required – required.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Intermediate English – required; advanced level preferred.
  • Basic mathematics – required; intermediate preferred.
  • Reasoning skills – intermediate level required.
  • Effective written and verbal communication – required.
Travel
  • No travel required.
Equipment
  • Standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones.
  • Sample preparation equipment: jaw crusher, bowl & disc pulverizing mills, pressure filters, riffle splitters, compressed air.
  • Laboratory instruments: bottle‑top dispensers, Eppendorf pipettes, balances, muffle furnace, sulfur analyzer, compressed gases, ICP‑OES as needed.

Denver, CO

Work Schedule
  • Day shift; flexible schedule.
  • Occasional overtime.
  • Environmental conditions:

    wet or humid (occasionally), fumes or airborne particles (frequently), risk of electrical shock (occasionally).
Vision Requirements
  • Close vision: 20 inches/50 centimeters or less.
  • Distance vision: 20 feet/6 meters or more.
  • Peripheral vision: ability to observe an area that can be seen above and below or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a point.
  • Depth perception: ability to judge distance and three‑dimensional relationships.
  • Color vision: ability to see color.
  • Auditory ability: able to hear equipment operating, alarms sounding, traffic, telephones.
Additional Information
  • Pay Range: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour.
