Research Fellow – Energy and Policy Institute

Location:

Flexible within the U.S.

Experience:

Experience conducting research

Summary:The Energy and Policy Institute is seeking research fellows to help hold utility monopolies accountable for actions that block clean energy and drive up costs for ratepayers. Research fellows will support our investigations across the entire team.

About EPI:EPI is a watchdog organization that exposes the harms posed by fossil-fuel and monopoly utility interests to ratepayers, democracy, and the climate. We work to shine a light on the ways that fossil-fuel companies and utilities are harming customers and slowing the transition to clean energy. Our findings inform community leaders, consumer advocates, environmentalists and others so that they have the insight they need to hold corporations and politicians accountable, and to create a cleaner and fairer energy system.

This position is part of an 18-month fellowship program. The fellowship offers competitive benefits: health, vision, and dental insurance; life and disability insurance; a generous vacation package; and three months of paid parental leave. After 18 months, fellows may be considered for longer-term employment.

We are a small, nimble and growing team. The position’s exact responsibilities will be determined in part by the experience and skillset of the candidate.

You might be a great candidate if you have the following demonstrable knowledge, skills and/or experience:

  • Contributed to investigative research and reporting projects, including following money trails, filing public records requests, and digging through government records and datasets.
  • Sifted through and organized data and documents.
  • Worked in a fast paced environment and had an extraordinary ability to rapidly respond to requests and needs with accuracy.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • The ability to learn on the job is essential.
  • You have demonstrated a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice in previous jobs or daily life.
