Position: Assistant Lab Technician - Tinghitella Lab (Work-Study)
Lab Summary

The Tinghitella lab studies the evolution of animal behavior, and particularly animal communication.

Essential Functions
  • Maintaining cricket colonies.
  • Preparing animals for behavioral analyses and assisting with behavioral and genetic/genomic experiments.
  • Cleaning laboratory supplies and assisting with research lab set up, organization, and maintenance.
  • Perform related work as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent attention to detail and clear communication.
Required Qualifications
  • Current DU undergraduate enrolled for the academic year.
  • This position is awork studyjob, which requires eligibility through the Financial Aid Office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ideally a biology (or related) major.
  • Strong interest in pursuing research as a possible career path
Working Environment
  • Working within the Tinghitella Lab
  • Standard office environment.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Students will be paid $19.29-$21.00/hr with the opportunity for yearly increases, dependent on performance.
  • In compliance with Colorado's Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), non-benefited employees accrue one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked up to a maximum of 48 hours per weeks.
