Director of Sales
We are looking for someone who is hands on, can work the phones, is comfortable auditing customers’ homes, coaches sales team members, and drives revenue and growth goals forward.
We are a fast-growing Denver-based heat pump installation company focused 100% on high-performance heat pump systems. We are obsessed with craftsmanship, clear communication, our homeowner customers, and getting the details right, from the first customer contact, to the post install care and follow up.
We are looking for a full time, growth minded, hands-on Sales Manager to start immediately. This is a new seat. The founders have been running the sales department themselves and demand has outpaced capacity. Our current department includes home energy auditors, heat pump designers and inside sales. You’ll be stepping directly into a management role.
You will personally close deals this year, help grow sales next year, and grow personally and professionally. You will own the sales funnel end-to-end and be accountable for the sales metrics including: phones, in-home audits, designs, proposals, follow ups, closing deals, and the team coordination and cohesiveness. You must be local to the Denver Metro area and have a clean driving record.
You do not need to know heat pumps on day one, but you do need to be excellent at learning technical sales, selling to homeowners, coaching, and leading a winning sales team. You do need to have managed a sales team before, and to be honest about what you know and what you do not.
WHAT YOU’LL DOOwn the whole sales cycle. Be hands-on and active with selling to homeowners. Grow the sales department.
- The number: Own our sales targets and deliver a weekly forecast the founders can trust.
- The pipeline: Own speed to lead, follow up cadence, pipeline accuracy, and lead source visibility.
- The process and tools: Own the path from first call to install handoff, and the CRM and software behind it.
- The team: Recruit, coach, train, and hold accountable your inside sales and in-home designers.
- The margin: Work with the founders on pricing, protect gross margin, and own the department budget.
- Close deals and build the playbook: Own the book of business, the targets, and the systems around them.
- The relationships: Partner with marketing, operations, and install, and build referral channels.
- Work across the company: Partner with marketing, operations, and install, and build referral relationships.
- Most of our leads so far have been inbound, and this is not a pure outbound role.
- You will not project manage the install after you sell it. We have a technical design team, install crew, a project manager, and more support staff already here.
- You will not be handed a number with no explanation, support, or dropped in the field alone in week one.
- You will not be handed numbers with no explanation. We will walk you through our full funnel math, close rate, and average ticket.
- You will not work solely from home or in the office to monitor and manage people. You will be meeting often with the team, visiting homes with homeowners, working from our office, events, and be very hands-on and active throughout town.
- You get uncomfortable when a lead sits for two hours without a callback.
- You have carried a bag and hit a number, and you are still excited to do it again.
- You close by being knowledgeable, honest, and the most responsive and helpful person in the conversation, not the most persistent or pushy.
- You tell a homeowner the truth even when it costs you the sale.
- You can quote your own close rate from memory and name why you lost the last five deals.
- You’re organized, self-directed, and…
