Position Summary
This safety‑sensitive role maintains a variety of equipment across RTD facilities, park‑n‑ride sites, and bus shelters, in accordance with the Drug and Alcohol Policy.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Conduct self as a representative of RTD, working effectively in a diverse environment.
- Operate electrical and air‑powered tools, pipe fitting, welding, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other mechanical tools, including snow removal and salt spreader equipment.
- Install new or replacement equipment and materials by performing electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, masonry, glazing, boiler, hydraulic, pneumatic, irrigation, heating, refrigeration, ventilating, air‑conditioning, and other maintenance work.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair malfunctions of boilers, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, heating, refrigeration, ventilating, air‑conditioning, irrigation systems, and other RTD equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals for facilities and equipment.
- Survey work requirements, measure and calculate material, labor, and system requirements, prepare material lists, and complete tasks efficiently.
- Work under minimal supervision.
- Handle hazardous materials safely, including acidic, caustic, volatile, and explosive substances.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and practices; work flexible days, hours, shifts.
- Work in confined spaces, at unusual heights, outdoors in all weather, in garage environments, and lift up to 60 lbs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Must have or obtain a valid Colorado Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B, within 90 days.
- Possess a valid driver’s license with no DUIs, DWIs, or reckless driving violations in the past 5 years.
- Pass the RTD Physical Ability Assessment related to job requirements.
- Knowledge and experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing, industrial waste, AC/HEAT, irrigation systems, boilers, pneumatic, pumps, hydraulic equipment, pipe fitting, and welding.
- Skill in using tools and performing tasks of the trades involved in repairing systems.
- Possess minimum set of hand tools per RTD facilities maintenance tool list.
- General knowledge of safety procedures and ability to follow safe work practices.
- Knowledge of EPA, DOT, and other safety regulations, and ability to follow them.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, and trade code books.
- Work under minimal supervision and direct others as needed.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, outdoors, lift up to 90 lbs and work flexible schedule.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse workforce.
- Equivalent combination of experience, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics as determined in the job analysis.
$32.83 – $36.45 per hour
