The Division of Facilities Management is a customer‑driven support organization responsible for providing facilities management services to all CDHS agencies and offices. Services include building and grounds maintenance, custodial, capital construction, utilities management, vehicle fleet management, space leasing, and planning. The Division serves 1,400 acres and 349 buildings across the Northern Region of Colorado.
Description of JobYou are required to work at your assigned location during scheduled work times. Work arrangements may change. This position is responsible for maintaining, constructing, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing all air distribution systems and associated services for multiple facilities, including the Colorado Mental Health Hospital at Fort Logan, Department of Human Services, Wheat Ridge Regional Center, Division of Youth Services facilities, and the Veterans Community Living Center.
HVAC‑R services include hydronic systems, chill water and heating water systems, absorption and reciprocating chillers, concentration of CFC regulations and EPA Title 15 compliance, and air distribution systems such as VAV, multi‑zone, fan‑coil, and cabinet unit heaters.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install HVAC equipment in compliance with manufacturer recommendations, local codes, health department, Joint Commission, and ACA standards across a multi‑building campus.
- Perform preventative maintenance on systems ranging from hospital environments to small residential applications.
- Monitor and test heating and cooling closed loops and cooling towers for water treatment levels, coordinating with vendors to correct out‑of‑tolerance conditions.
- Maintain, repair, troubleshoot, and install large‑scale refrigeration equipment in compliance with standards and regulations.
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair building automation controls to ensure proper operation of equipment and customer‑requirement compliance.
- Analyze logs, printouts, and other materials to solve operational problems.
- Maintain pumps and control valves (electrical and pneumatic).
- Repair cooling towers, absorption chillers, water‑cooled chillers, and direct expansion units over 150 tons, including replacement of piping, components, and electronic systems.
- Maintain fire and smoke control systems in air handling and exhaust systems, communicating with customers on repairs that affect office or department operations.
- Perform mechanical fabrication using HVAC machines and tools.
- Comply with safety programs, tool and key control, and snow removal duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Positions required for essential law enforcement, highway maintenance, and other services directly necessary for health, safety, and welfare of patients, residents, and inmates in state institutions or facilities. Employees in essential positions may be required to work unexpected or unusual hours or perform emergency services without delay.
Minimum Qualifications- Three years of experience troubleshooting and repairing HVAC systems.
- Current and valid Universal CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) certification.
Education or completion of a formalized apprenticeship program related to this position may substitute for the required experience on a year‑for‑year basis. Submit transcripts or apprenticeship certificate with application.
