Plumber – Denver (State of Colorado)
Division of Facilities Management – Northern District
. This position is open to current Colorado residents only and may be used to fill multiple vacancies.
- Perform troubleshooting, installation, repair, and maintenance on plumbing equipment and systems including pumps, temperature controls, hot water heating systems, domestic water systems, sewer and waste disposal systems.
- Unstop commodes, sinks, floor drains, replace washers, seats, traps, valves, supply lines, handles, and stool seats and related plumbing accessories and fixtures.
- Repair and/or replace equipment, components, devices, or complete systems that are not operational, broken, damaged, outdated or obsolete to allow systems to operate as intended or increase efficiency.
- Complete preventative maintenance checks, routine work orders and be responsible for new construction, remodels or modification of plumbing systems including irrigation systems; assist with project work as needed.
- Maintain, test and repair Life Safety Systems including fire hydrants, standpipes and fire suppression systems.
- Order and purchase materials, maintain stock in the warehouse and keep vehicle, warehouse and shop areas clean.
- Read and interpret blueprints.
- Obtain and follow material installation instructions, diagnose material failures related to maintenance work and research alternate materials.
- Prepare records and perform accurate reporting with timely response on daily task sheets, leave slips, work order sheets, log books, inspection forms, purchase receipts and other administrative forms as necessary to allow for efficient workflow and documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Active Journey worker/Journeyman or Master Plumber license issued by the State of Colorado (copy must be attached to application).
- At least three (3) years of full‑time plumbing experience leading to a Colorado Plumbing license (Journey worker/Master). Experience must be clearly documented in the application.
- Alternatively, a combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or relevant experience equal to three (3) years; transcripts/apprenticeship must be attached.
- Full pre‑employment criminal background check required; felony convictions may disqualify.
- Must maintain valid Colorado driver’s license; out‑of‑state license holders must obtain a Colorado license within 30 days of hire.
- Must pass a Motor Vehicle Check, TB test, and influenza vaccination (or exemption).
- Must be willing to travel statewide, work shift and overtime as required.
- Must be willing to receive annual influenza vaccination or provide a documented medical or religious exemption.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Customer‑service oriented, pleasant attitude, independent, self‑directed, problem‑solving, and resourceful.
- Basic computer skills: email, Google applications, Microsoft Office.
- Experience working with a work order system.
- Possession of an active cross‑connection certificate.
- Institutional and/or correctional plumbing experience.
